The past few days have been very busy, preparing for the imminent release of “Catalyst” - ShopDev’s latest CubeCart skin.  Catalyst has been designed from Biome’s successful framework.  Just in case you’re new around here, “Biome” brought an entirely new wave of functionality to CubeCart.  The most iconic of which is the ability to add items to the shopping cart using AJAX.  Essentially, Catalyst has inherited all of the core PHP modifications that Biome utilizes.

Earlier today, a demo for “Catalyst” went live.  I have since received a number of emails requesting details.  In this post, I’ll be tackling some of the questions you may have:

Q.  When will Catalyst be released?
A.  I am hoping to release Catalyst either today or tomorrow.

Q.  How much will Catalyst cost?
A.  The standard price will be £34.99.  However, as we did with Biome, the 1st 5 customers will be entitled to a discount.

Q.  Is anything else required?
A.  We have designed this skin to perfectly accommodate CC3.biz’s “Advanced Expanding Category Links” modification.  This modification is available for $10.00 and is installed on the demo.  Please note:  If you do not purchase this modification, your categories will not expand when viewing subcategories or products (as in the demo).

Q.  Is this skin compatible with CubeCart V4?
A.  Currently, this skin is only compatible with CubeCart V3.  We will be releasing this skin for CubeCart V4 at a later date.

Q.  Can I change from Biome to Catalyst?
A.  Yes!  We have included instructions to change from Biome to Catalyst.  If you have purchased Biome, you can change to Catalyst for just £9.99.  Please note that if you change to Catalyst, you are no longer permitted to use Biome.

Q.  Do you include source files for the images?
A.  Yes!  As always, a PSD source file is included.

Q.  Is Catalyst compatible with languages other than English?
A.  As standard, No.  However, it is possible to change the language.  This will involve manually editing the template files and PSD source file.  The entire process will likely take a few good hours.  You will need to be familiar with editing HTML and using Photoshop.

Q.  Is Catalyst compatible with multiple currencies?
A.  As standard, Catalyst can only be used with a single currency.  It is possible to add multiple currency support.  To do this, you will need to be familiar with editing both HTML and CSS.

Q.  How can I install the skin?
A.  We offer 3 methods for installing Catalyst.  Firstly, you can use the “Quick Upload Files” provided with the skin.  This is the recommended method.  However, you can only use this method if you are installing the skin on an unmodified version of CubeCart.  Secondly, you can perform a manual installation.  Installing the skin using this method will take approximately 2-5 hours.  This method is recommended if you wish to install Catalyst on a modified version of CubeCart.  Finally, you can “upgrade” from Biome to Catalyst.  This method should only be used if you are currently using Biome and would like to change to Catalyst.

Q.  Will you support this skin?
A.  Absolutely!  If any bugs are found, we will release an updated version.  We will always include instructions on how to manually update to the latest version.  Unfortunately, we cannot provide dedicated support with regards to modifying our skins.  Modifications to our skins are made at your own risk.

Q.  Do you offer a guarantee?
A.  We certainly do!  I believe that we are the only provider of CubeCart skins to offer an unconditional satisfaction guarantee.

Q.  Do I have to retain a copyright message/designer credits?
A.  Unfortunately, we do request that you retain a discrete link at the footer of each page - unless you purchase a copyright notice removal license.  We do this to lower the cost of our skins.  You can view the designer link by visiting the demo of this skin.  Copyright Removal Licenses are priced at £30.00 and are valid for a single domain name only.  After purchasing a Copyright Removal License, you are permitted to remove the designer credit.

Q.  How can I pay?
A.  We currently accept payment via Google Checkout.  You can use your credit or debit cart to pay via Google Checkout.  We do not accept PayPal payments.

Q.  How long does it take to receive the skin?
A.  You will usually receive a download link minutes after payment.  Occasionally, Google manually reviews transactions for fraud.  In this case, it may take a few hours to receive your download link.
