Collapsible Side-Boxes
If you have a large inventory, your sidebar can quickly become cluttered and look somewhat disorganized. Our clever collapsible side-boxes allow your visitors to decide what is displayed in the sidebar. Furthermore, their preferences are saved. This means that the collapsed side-boxes will remain collapsed throughout the site and until they choose to expand them.
How are the visitor preferences saved?
The state (i.e. collapsed or expanded) of each side-box is stored in a cookie on the visitor's computer. This means that there is no additional load on your server. In fact, all the coding (and processing) is client side.
Saving the state of the side-boxes is incredibly important. We are the only CubeCart developers which implement this properly. Side-boxes that must be expanded/collapsed on each subsequent page load are counterintuitive and serve no purpose.
Can I change which side-boxes are collapsed by default?
Absolutely. We have documentation available that details how to do this. Please note that the default state can be overwritten by the user's preferences.
Can I prevent specific side-boxes from being collapsed?
We provide documentation detailing how to do this. In some of our skins, we have disabled the ability for visitors to collapse the category navigation side-box. This method can be applied to other side-boxes or removed from the category navigation.
